The Hubbard Center for Faculty Development promotes success in faculty professional responsibilities—student engagement, scholarly accomplishment, collaborative outreach, and academic leadership. The Hubbard Center supports all faculty (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure track, and administrative faculty) in all career stages (from newly hired to retirement) by offering a broad range of programs, resources, and services in a variety of formats.

We invite you to explore our website and participate in the activities and programs that meet your current professional needs and preferences. It is our goal to promote your success as a teacher, scholar, and faculty member. Together, we advance student learning and meet the strategic goals and objectives of the university and UNC system. Please let us know how we can help you work more effectively.

We also invite you to visit and bookmark the Faculty Portal, a listing of Appalachian websites important to faculty work.  We also encourage you to investigate the websites of other Appalachian offices that also provide specialized support to faculty:  Learning Technology Services, Service Learning and Community-Based Research Program, University Documentary Film Services, Office of International Education and Development, Office of Student Research, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and Human Resource Services.

Founded in 1975, the Hubbard Center is one of the oldest continuously funded and operating faculty development offices in the country. The Hubbard Center for Faculty Development is a unit within the Office of Academic Affairs and reports to the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. The Hubbard Center is located in 1028 Anne Belk Hall and is open daily Monday through Friday.
