The Hubbard Center invites you to come taste and experience wines from the cradle of civilization and viticulture: Israel, Lebanon, Georgia, Turkey, and other areas of the Middle East. Archeologists have unearthed 7,000 year-old wine from this region, whose ideal climate continues to produce fine wines today. The wine tasting will be coupled with a presentation about the about the history, geography, and current state of the wine industry in these areas.
Hosting the event is Dr. Grant Holder, Professor in the Department of Chemistry. Holder received a FIPSE European Union-United States grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create a transatlantic undergraduate program in wine science.
To register for this event, please send a check for $30.00 made payable to Appalachian State University, to Grant Holder in the Department of Chemistry, by September 14, 2007. This event is limited to the first twenty-two people who pay; the $30.00 fee is non-refundable.
